Talents4AA

Welcome University of Siegen!

We are proud to count the University of Siegen among our valued academic members at Talents4AA. Located in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, the University of Siegen is a research-driven institution committed to innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the advancement of practical knowledge. With more than 18,000 students and a strong emphasis on engineering, social sciences, and education, the university plays a leading role in shaping modern vocational and technical training across Europe.

One of its most impactful academic units is the Chair of Technical Vocational Didactics (TVD), led by Professor Ralph Dreher, ambassador for Talents4AA. The TVD stands out for its design-oriented approach to training vocational education teachers, especially in the automotive service sector.

As Professor Dreher explains:

“The Chair of Technical Vocational Didactics (TVD) of the University of Siegen pursues a design-oriented approach to training vocational education teachers, particularly in the field of automotive service. This means that students first learn how to diagnose and maintain vehicles by working on tasks similar to those they would encounter in a workshop. The work processes they develop and document themselves then form the essential didactic basis for their teaching. Against this background, it was only logical and desirable for TVD to become a member of Talents4AA.”

Through this methodology, students gain hands-on experience in diagnosing and maintaining vehicles, learning not only the technical skills needed in real-life workshops but also how to translate these experiences into effective teaching strategies. This dual focus on practice and pedagogy makes the University of Siegen a model for vocational education excellence.

As part of Talents4AA , the TVD contributes significantly to the goal of strengthening education and skills development in the automotive aftermarket. It does so by transforming real-world knowledge and insights into vocational training and continuing education modules. This helps support lifelong learning, workforce development, and improved qualifications throughout the sector.

The University of Siegen’s involvement with Talents4AA reflects its commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry, and to training a new generation of professionals ready to drive innovation in the evolving world of mobility.
